They say it wasn't a raise? Ok the ordinance that was passed 9/19/11 by Terry Dilk and council took the assistant position from $50,000 to $36,000. However, the current assistant quit her previous position making $41,689.00. She took the position as Mayors assistant which is a new job, not a transfer. That pay came at $36,000. But, all year she has been making $41,689.00. Should have been $1400 biweekly, instead making $1672.66 biweekly. Council was told it wasn't a raise, so they listened instead of researching and now have approved this salary to continue. Therefore, she got a raise of $5689.25 without anyone knowledge for this year and now it will continue. However, there is a 1800 longevity pay in there that the city isn't showing on the website which means she's making $43,489.25. Im no accountant, but if it looks like a raise and smells like a raise and reads as a raise, ITS a RAISE! How did she get more money than the ordinance called for this entire year?

Mayor Dilk's made 36,000 and Mayor Buckley's makes 43,000. What's wrong with this picture? Why are we paying 40,000 to people that dont even answer phones in the Police Station, the court clerk in which the court is in session 1 day a week, and why does the person at the community center make 41,000? 44,000 for a judge that works one day a week? How can the Mayor justify all this when he wrote many Letters to the Editor about Mayor Dilk wasting money?

Kevin, you should get all those letters from the Southside Times and post them.

wow, one of the dep chief's wife works for the city. who would have thought?

Anonymous said...

the court is in session once a week, but do you think that is all the work they do? anyone familar with courts would realize that the "in session" part is a small fraction of the work involved.

Also, look at all the part-time people? they work no more than 32 hours a week? What? That is nearly full-time, all you are saving is benefits? Do you really need all those part-time people when you have so many salaried employees?

Wow, it's worse than I thought! Really? how does Julie L deserve $20 an hr? She stated at last Mondays council meeting that she deserved a raise and did not take benefits, well I guess not, considering her husband makes almost $47,000 w/ the Street Dept and Im sure we are paying the $10,000 in benefits to him! No wonder our city is broke after looking at this chart! Thanks Kevin! Now Im just furious!

Buckley is in way over his head. Poor fella.

If you have a problem with parts of this information request you need to consult the City Attorney as he advises the Clerk on releasing Public Information.

If you have a problem with the information requested being correct then contact the Clerk Treasurer.

All I can do is request what others and myself would like to request and submit those requests to the City Attorney and Clerk.

get your facts straight, Julie's husband does NOT work for the City of Beech Grove.... Julie and Tom are both very hard workers for the city and should be awarded with good pay for as many years that they have put up with the political crapola. You reward good workers with good pay, has anyone thought about what is happening with the city employees morale with all this going on? Sure makes for a good working environment.

105- Bleeding the city on overpaid workers is bad for my tax dollars. If they wanted the same pay, they should have stayed in the position they had.

Just curious what do you think the cities turnover rate is? If morale was that bad, wouldnt you see poeple leaving their job? Why should we reward people for doing their job?

Ok, my apologies on the Julies husband thing. I thought the James Lockwood on the street dept. was her husband. However, I still do not think they should be making what they do considering our financial status. Many people work hard to earn little pay, many people work hard to make good pay and many people just kiss a to get good pay. When there r rumors outside of BG about her and her boss what does that tell you? When in a discussion at a council meeting she and Tom are losing money and guess what? The mayor stuck up for her, but never said a word to stick up for Tom! Hmmm

With all what going on? I work for a company that employs over 100 people and everyone's moral doesn't go down when someone changes there position and gets lower pay. I also heard Lockwood said she does not take any benefits from the city. I want to know if this is true. Does she get paid vacation or any other benfits. Does she take that long pay thatit shows she gets and what is it?

Some of these people earn more than me and my wife do together, and they want more, let them leave and hire people who would be grateful for the opportunity.

Just because the Mayor and his son conduct the business of trashing people personally doesn't mean it will happen to him on this blog.

If you have proof of the allegations I will post it but not rumor.

Hotel receipts, pictures, police reports, etc would be needed for proof of the Mayor's activities for them to be put here.

Please take the things out of your attempted post and I will put it up asap.

634 Page views since posting just a couple of days ago but no one reads the Blog do they?

I have never gotten a dime out of the Blog since 2005 and won't but I really wish I had a dime for every time a person told me "I don't read the Blog."

This is my OPINION...

And yes I get one. lol.

I don't see what is the problem with Tom Hannon making the money he does. I think he is being targeted unfairly as a political move by some because he makes a fair amount.

In the private sector, his position and the amount of work he does is right on the money or most likely a little low.

There is no reason to take a dime away from an employee like Tom Hannon and his position and duties justify that amount.

I would like to see research from the people who say he is making too much to prove their point.

The GM of any organization with the amount of employees he supervises gets paid the same if not more than he does.

In my opinion it's political games that are involved in this issue.

Well said Kevin. Tom works more hours and cares more about Beech Grove than all of those casting stones upon him. He deserves better treatment. If he was paid overtime like public safety employees he would be a millionaire.

The co-owner of Indianapolis-based Royal Spa Corp. has prevailed in a year-long legal dispute in which he and a former executive of the company sued one another in separate courts.

Royal Spa CEO Robert Dapper won a judgment of $8,484 against ex-employee Kevin Roessler, and had a complaint and counterclaim against him from Roessler and his wife dismissed.

Court records revealed no details about the dismissals, and lawyers representing both sides declined to comment on the suits.

The dismissals likely put an end to a salacious legal spat that included sexually charged allegations against Dapper and sordid details of the swinging lifestyle of Roessler, according to court papers.

The court battle began in October 2011, when Dapper sued Roessler and his wife, Marcella Roessler, charging that Roessler failed to pay for a spa that he purchased from the store on a payment schedule.

The remaining amount of $8,484, including a $2,000 loan Dapper said he gave Roessler, came due in full upon his departure from the company in March 2011. Roessler had served as Royal Spa’s director of business development since June 2008.

Dapper also named Roessler’s wife in the suit, claiming that the couple threatened to make damaging allegations against Dapper if he did not write Roessler a check.

Dapper won his judgment against the Roesslers in Marion Superior Court in March.

Six months later, on Sept. 10, Dapper also had a counterclaim filed against him by Marcella Roessler dismissed. Her suit claimed that Dapper defamed her by making false and sexually degrading statements about her to a couple interested in buying a hot tub from Royal Spa.

In the meantime, Kevin Roessler charged in federal court that Dapper sexually harassed him and his wife after learning that he had an “open” marriage, court papers said.

After discovering Roessler’s lifestyle, Dapper began to request that Roessler invite him to events where couples shared their sexual partners, according to the suit filed in April. Roessler insists in the complaint that he did not want to combine his personal life with his work and was hesitant to invite Dapper to the events.

Roessler, however, alleged that Dapper became so strident in his demands to be invited that he threatened to fire Roessler if he did not comply, so he relented.

Federal Judge Tanya Walton Pratt dismissed Roessler’s suit against Dapper in late August. No explanation was given for the decision in court documents.

Dapper co-founded Royal Spa in 1981 with Rick Bartlett. The company is headquartered at 2041 W. Epler Ave. on the south side. It has three company-owned locations and more than 50 dealers in Indiana and 10 other states, in addition to Belgium and the Netherlands, according to the company’s website.

The four council people should be ashamed of themselves. Their blindsided attack of Mr. Hannan was underhanded and despicable. I would expect this from Davidson and Mobley since we all know their personal history. I am very disappointed by Jennings and Coats. You would think they would at least talk to the man before they stab him in the back. Most people if they were in Mr. Hannan's shoes would cut back to 40 hours a week and let the City and Parks suffer. He won't because he is a better person than these four COWARDS. There is one more vote on the 16th and I for one will be there to support Mr. Hannan and stare these Cowards down.

A couple of years ago the Beech Grove Promoter's Voted Tom Hannan as the Citizen of the Year. This was done primarily to thank him for all of his hard work helping the Promoters with the Fireworks Celebration in the Park and the Fall Festival clean-up. So the City Council in all their wisdom vote to cut the pay of the Citizen of the Year by 25%. Nice job council, way to show your appreciation to a man who goes above and beyond in his job performance.

Personal History?

Here are some cities and what they pay thier parks director. Tom makes around $2400 bi weekly+education+logevity.

City of Portage, population double Beech Grove, which has tons of parks and a beach to take care of Parks Director 2248.33/bi weekly

Greenfield - $2144/bi weekly. More parks and far more staff

New Castle - Closest to size and population of Beech Grove $1570/bi weekly

As interesting as the IBJ article is, here's the rest of the story:
any lawsuit settled is labeled as dismissed.
according to law.

greenwood - $2,075.88

I think this says a lot. With all the parks in greenwood, population, and employees its obvious for a city of 14k with 1 and 1/2 parks 2400 is far too much. I commend the council on their decision on the Parks Director, but especially on the Mayor's assistant.

Looks like the council is finally wakeing up and seeing the light! Thank goodness!

FYI...Dave Mobley has not been found guilty or plead guilty. He has another pretrial hearing on 11/1/12 at 8:30 am.

Anonymous said...

Not sure where you got that info. but when you call the court and give a case # and ask what happened at court and they tell you it was a guilty hearing, what does that mean?

Anonymous said...

Kind of hard to plead guilty when it was an attorney's only pre trial. Fyi the one on 11/1/12 is attorney's only too. So Mobley won't be there.

Anonymous said...

5:21 thank you for the information. So does that mean then since the courts reply was "it was a guilty hearing" does that mean his attorney is admitting his guilt? What will be happening on Nov. 1st? Why are they having another hearing? Thanks for your input.

Anonymous said...

A defendant has to be in court to plead guilty. Since the next hearing is set for an attorney's only my guess is they will just set it for another date. This can drag out as long as the attorney wants it to. Even if Mobley does at some point plead guilty the most he will get out of it pay court costs and maybe have to take a aids/std test. If they set it for court trial and the officer don't show then the case will be dismissed. I would be shocked if anything really happens before the new year.

So she got her pay back by lies and deceit from current administration. Bullying and rushing people may have worked this time, but it won't again, promise! Council, you better wake up and smell the roses! You are being ramrodded over and over!!
